Breathe

So that went well. I think. Offer was conveyed. He's going to send it to me in writing. From working the limited numbers I got it's making about what I make right now (including my bonus) so it would be guaranteed that amount and not dependent on production of certain things which is always good. Course this is the total offer including a housing and phone allowance not all cash, but either way it works out as I would have to spend money on these things anyways.

Also with a lower standard of living and me not having a car or insurance or gas costs it should mean that there will be plenty of money left over for daily living expenses etc. I think I will probably go back though and ask for more. My boss gave me a good indication of what she thought the minimum should be for the position and it's not really asking much more than what they're offering so I think it could be do-able. But we'll see. Garren and I will probably dissect it a lot more once we have everything in writing.

Once the salary issue is done apparently then I would have a chat with the Director of Sales and Marketing and the General Manager. So there it is. Morocco one step closer. And looking more likely every day. I'm signing up for French classes today. Even if I don't end up going, I'll have brushed up my French and if I am going, I'll have brushed up my French.

For those interested if this all goes through it looks like Garren and I would be in Morocco sometime in July. Ahhh. Freak out.

  2. That would be awesome if you could come for my bday! I don't know if I would be able to get away from work as it would be preopening....Maybe for the weekend though! This is something to think on.

Garren's been taking French classes at the ABC language center in the city. I was going to call them when I get off work today. They have one starting tomorrow which is "fast track" basic French. But I don't know if I need basic or maybe Mid beginner. I think reviewing the basics would be good but I don't want to waste my time. I don't know when the Mid beginner is....So yea. And it's about $325 for 8 weeks of classes (once a week). I can let you know what I find out later today.....

  6. PS my head is doing crazy circle things trying to keep up.

  7. yeah ibiza is supposed to be the "party" island and is smaller than mallorca. they have lots of hotels/resorts on both. we can drink and sleep and lay by beaches/pools.

  9. Just a thought, if you end up getting the job maybe to save you the stress of moving and packing up Garren could come a few weeks later so he could tie up all the loose ends and you can fly over there not worried about anything except the job. And I can come meet you there while you get settled before he gets there. I havent booked my ticket home yet and I would be happy to come meet you and keep you company while Garren gets all your stuff and kittens ready to come over. Just a thought - I wanna help if I can :)

  10. Kristen - Yes come. However this is just musing stages. Again I might not be able to get away except for a very brief weekend so.....

Ady - That's not a bad idea. Garren and I are debating leaving before my start date (if we go)however and trvl for maybe a week prior, but a visit to Lyon was in the plans for that, so I would get to see you either way!

  12. Omigosh this is such amazing news! I agree on the head-spinning-ness part. For the french classes, you'd probably be fine starting at intermediate. I'm sure once you got back in it, it would come back to you. I took Fr 4 & 5 a year or so ago and I think I still have my books. If you want I could bring them up and you could use them to refresh.

  13. Jade that would be awesome. I just spoke with someone about the class I'm going to start Monday, however any extra studying I can do with other material would probably help.

  14. Michele - I probably am leaving the cats behind until we find a place. Mom said she watch them for a while for me. Mom has also volunteered to bring them, but alternately I was thinking of using a pet shipping service. Could get expensive but I thought if someone else besides me is handling the details I will be less apt to freak out. If you were serious about bringing them over I think it is something that we could work out with hopefully minimal impact on you, but no pressure. I'm going to figure something out for the babies. I'm trying not to let that part stress me out too much.

  15. Just to be the devil's advocate here - putting four cats together in mom's place may result in dead cats...that's a lot of cats, and fights will likely take place. I'd be more worried about putting them all together than flying them to Morocco! ;)

  16. No it will be fine. They would be seperated and I don't think Willoughby and Maggie would be there long. Just long enough for us to find a place to move them to.

  17. As long as you think it will work. Erik said he missed the cats - now he'll have four to cuddle! :)

  18. No problem. I'll bring up my books when we come-- YAY!!! I'm SOOOO excited to see you!
